Dr. med. Dr. rer. nat. Hans Aster

Hans is a clinician scientist and board-certified specialist in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Psychotherapy. He received his medical training in Salzburg with a focus on neurointervention. In addition to medicine, he studied economics and philosophy. He obtained his PhD in Neuroimaging from the University of Würzburg.

His research focuses on understanding how psychostimulants act on the human brain and how individual treatment response can be predicted in patients. To address these questions, he combines functional MRI, quantitative MRI, computational modelling and transcranial magnetic stimulation in children, adolescents and adults. His work aims to contribute to a more mechanistic and individualized understanding of psychopharmacological treatment, particularly in neurodevelopmental and psychiatric disorders.

In his free time, he enjoys gardening and swimming in the lakes around Würzburg.
